Freelance Solicitors Professional Indemnity Insurance

Our freelance solicitors PII extends to cover the full range of both reserved and non-reserved activities being undertaken by freelance solicitors where they undertake business on their own.

Do I need Freelance Solicitors Professional Indemnity Insurance?

Freelance Solicitors’ Professional Indemnity Insurance (PII) is mandatory for all practicing Freelance Solicitors as a requirement of the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) when undertaking reserved legal activities. By providing cover against civil liability claims, it enhances a freelance solicitor’s financial security, while protecting clients with the required PII cover mandated by the SRA.

Definition of a Freelance Solicitor for Insurance purposes?

  • Do you practice on your own and do not employ anyone else in connection with the legal services you provide?
  • Are you practicing in your own name (e.g. Mr John Smith)? – rather than practicing under a trading name or through a service company; and
  • Are you engaged directly by clients with fees being paid directly to you by them?
  • Do you possess a minimum of five years Post Qualification Experience (PQE)?
  • Do you earn or estimate you will bill over £20,000 in annual fees?

Then our Freelance Solicitors PI Insurance could be for you.
